File shelf & clipboard history for Mac
A small shelf on the edge of your screen. Drop a file to hold a copy for 24 hours, or keep it there until you need it. What you don't keep clears itself.
Two ways to drop
The shelf is split in two. Where you drop decides what happens, and the label tells you before you let go.
Drop on the top half. dragand keeps a copy for 24 hours and your original stays exactly where it is.
Drop on the bottom half. The file itself moves onto the shelf and stays until you drag it out.
At the edge
Nothing sits on your screen while you work. Drag a file and a small panel slides in at the right edge. Rest the pointer against the edge and it comes in there too. When you're done, it slides away. It never comes in over a full-screen video or app.
In three steps
dragand slides in at the edge as a small panel, with Hold on top and Keep below. Rest on it and it opens into the full drop panel.
Hold keeps a copy for 24 hours. Keep takes the file itself until you need it. The shelf peeks open with Undo.
Rest the pointer against the right edge and click Files, or press ⌃⌥⌘S. Then drag the file into Finder, Mail, a browser or any app.
The shelf
dragand never deletes your originals. Held copies are the only thing it clears, and only when you didn't keep them.
No more digging through Downloads. What you're holding sits on top with its time left, what you kept sits below.
Every drop, keep, removal and clear can be undone, right from the note that follows it.
Preview anything on the shelf with Quick Look, the same way you do in Finder, without opening it.
Put Back returns a kept file to the folder it came from.
dragand notices, and refreshes the held copy in one click.
Cloud-only files download first, with progress, before the 24 hours start.
Nothing clears in the first hour after your Mac wakes, so you have time to keep what you need.
Clipboard history
Type a few letters, press Return. It's copied, so you press ⌘V where you need it.
⌃⌘V opens it anywhere
Privacy

They never leave your Mac. dragand only goes online to check your purchase.

Pricing
Try everything free for 3 days. If dragand earns its spot on your screen, pay once to keep it. Without it, dragand still works: drops and a few actions wait 3 seconds first, at most once a minute, and your files stay right where they are.
FAQ
dragand is a Mac app that puts a small shelf on the right edge of your screen. Drag a file onto it to hold a copy for 24 hours, or keep the file there until you need it. It also has an optional clipboard history that keeps the last 7 days.
Hold keeps a copy for 24 hours and leaves your original where it is. Keep puts the file itself on the shelf, out of its folder, until you drag it out or put it back. Both can be undone.
The held copy is cleared, and your original is never touched. If the original was deleted in the meantime, the item says so and offers Keep, so you can save the copy before it clears. Nothing clears in the first hour after your Mac wakes up.
No. Your files and clipboard never leave your Mac. The only time dragand goes online is to check your purchase or trial, through RevenueCat, using an anonymous ID. There are no accounts and no analytics or ads.
No. It is off until you turn it on. When it is on, it keeps the last 7 days, stores them encrypted on your Mac, and never saves items password managers mark as private or anything from apps you exclude.
Any Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with Apple silicon or an Intel processor.
dragand is free to download, with a free 3-day trial you start yourself. Unlocking it is a one-time purchase of $9.99, yours for good on every Mac with your Apple Account. There is no subscription. Without the trial or the unlock, dragand still works: drops, the shelf's row actions and Clipboard's copy keys wait 3 seconds first, at most once a minute. Your files are always yours.
Most shelf apps keep everything until you clean up. dragand is temporary unless you keep something: held copies clear themselves, so the shelf never turns into another junk drawer.
